Abstract
In recent times, many public sector activities have been transfered to the private sector. Provision of services of general economic interest by private operators, including electronic communications services, is a specific example. This process could lead us to the conclusion that Public Law standards are being displaced by the rules of Private Law and the rules of free competition. However, rectification seems to be following a reverse process, i.e. towards the application of principles, rules and garantees of Administrative Law to certain relationships between private operators of services of general economic interest and citizens using such services.
