Abstract
In this work, a starch-based biopolymer has been reinforced with hemp strands. Composite materials, at different fibre content, were obtained by means of high-shearing mixing process followed by injection moulding processing. The evaluation of the mechanical properties gave a significant increase of the ultimate tensile strength and the stiffness for those composites with the highest percentage of hemp strands. In addition, the polarity of the composite constituents, as well as the moisture absorption of the obtained composites was evaluated.
