The defense and promotion of human rights constitute a fundamental pillar of contemporary international law. This research line focuses on the study of international and regional instruments for the protection of human rights, their practical application, monitoring mechanisms, and their interaction with national and regional legal systems. Additionally, it analyzes contemporary challenges such as the protection of rights in conflict contexts, the prevention of torture, refugee rights, and transitional justice
