Innovative processes of potabilization and water treatment

Research line: Impact

Description of impact

Study and development of innovative processes for water potabilization and industrial and urban wastewater treatment. Potabilization processes studied include ozonisation, coagulation and oxidation. Other research topics are advanced chromatographic techniques for the characterization of natural organic matter in potable water. Processes for wastewater treatment, water reuse and resource recovery include partial nitritation-anammox; membrane-based filtration processes (membrane bioreactor, forward and reverse osmosis); nature-based solutions; or struvite precipitation. The line also includes the study of potabilization and sanitation decentralized systems.
