Description of impact

We study genetically modified (GM) plants at different levels, using maize (commercial varieties) and rice as model species. Characterization of transgenes at the DNA (insertion site, rearrangements, stability), RNA (expression and transcript) and protein levels. Development of methods for the detection, identification and quantification of GM plants to grant traceability. Coexistence of GM and conventional plants in agricultural fields. Variability associated to the insertion and expression of transgenes in plants: transcriptome and proteome. Obtention of transgenic plants for massive production of antimicrobial peptides with phytosanitary uses. Phytotoxicity associated to its production in plant biofactories.
