Celestial mechanics

Research line: Impact

Description of impact

The research is within the Celestial Mechanics. The studied models are mainly restricted models, with a fixed number of main bodies (the Sun and some planets) and where the motion of an infinitesimal mass (asteroid, spacecraft) under the influence of the other bodies is studied. Specifically, the research focuses on the study and analysis of the dynamics of these models, the existence of certain types of solutions (orbits), and their astronomical applications (motion of some asteorids, transport in the Solar System) and astrodynamic applications (mission design, satellites in formation). Some examples studied are p-q resonant orbits (of interest in mission design to reduce energy costs), orbits of coorbital asteroids to the Earth, or the deployment of satellites in formation around a pre-set orbit.
