Description of impact

Utilization of the methodology of molecular genetic analysis for the identification of the genetic resources of populations of endangered species or of interest (continental and marine), their application to the differential study of the populations of these species and the use of the obtained data to design management protocols for the improvement of conservation programmes. Research on this line can include the works done in European otter (Lutra lutra) and Iberian desman (Galemys pyrenaicus), uisng mainly non invasive samples; studies of genetic characterization of both domestic goat breeds (Capra hircus) in danger of extinction and endemical lizard populations of Cuba (Anolis quadriocellifer); as well as many of the studies realized in the line of research in continental fishes.
