Natural fibres as reinforcement in composite materials

    Research line: Impact

    Description of impact

Use of different type of cellulosic fibres as reinforcement of plastic materials, proceeding from petroleum (PP, HDPE, PVC,...) or from natural sources (starch, PLA, PCL,...). Comparation of thermal, mechanical and strength properties of these composites wiht traditional fiberglass composites. Compatibilizers as MAPP or MAPE improve the interaction between fibres and polymers. Interface analysis. The industrial processes used in this sector are: discontinuous mixing systems, extrusion and moulding injection.
