Deep brain stimulation (DBS) cell and molecular induced changes, a therapy used in Parkinson disease.

Research line: Impact

Description of impact

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is widely applied for Parkinson disease and for other neurological diseases. However, the neural and molecular mechanisms regulated by DBS in brain tissues are not known. We investigate the influence of DBS treatments on different brain areas with a cellular and molecular approach. We collaborate with neurologists experts in the application of DBS therapies from the University of Maastricht and with Dr. Genis, neurologist from the l’Hospital Josep Trueta.
