Study of discrete dynamical systems

Description of impact

The aim of this research line is to study the dynamical behavior of some iterative processes taking input values on a space X and producing output values on the same space X. This scheme is called a discrete dynamical system and can be used to model a big amount of practical situations. Usually the dynamical system is defined by the iteration of a continuous function and we study the case in which the underlying space has dimension 1 (such as a closed interval, the real line, or more generically any finite or infinite tree or graph). We are interested in describing the qualitative long-time behavior of the points of the space under iteration (fixed points, periodic orbits, wandering points, etc.)
