Art Education, social contexts and identities. Multicultural, ecological and inclusive perspectives

Research line: Impact

Description of impact

Our research is focused in a social constructionist posmodern perspective on arts education: a particular perspective on arts education is associated with theories of art and theories about learning, education and knowledge in particular, that in turn are based on values and attitudes regarding the nature, culture and human beings. In this line we put the emphasis on the development of questions about thinking of teachers and the influence of the arts in shaping identities. We study art as a metaphoric mediator of meaning and moral value, through discourse and content analysis, especially in discourses in images and representations. Therefore, we ask ourselves how art can be created and evaluated, and both taught and learned, with ethical and social responsibility.
