Ecophysiology of marine benthic algae

    Research line: Impact

    Description of impact

Our research group is studying the physiological requirements of light and temperature for the development, survival, growth and reproduction of several species of marine benthic algae from the Mediterranean Sea. These experiments are conducted by means of laboratory cultures. The main goal of these studies is to know the effects of light and temperature on the bathymetric and geographic distribution of these species, but also to find out the possible consequences of an increase of the seawater temperature caused by the global warming on this distribution.
