Development of macrostructures and supramolecular chemistry

    Research line: Impact

    Description of impact

Synthesis and characterization of new aza-macrocyclic ligands containing different types and numbers of unsaturations in their structure. These macrocycles and their synthetic precursors are ligands in the preparation of different transition metal complexes as well as in molecular recognition processes. Potentiometric methods are used to qualitatively and quantitatively study the different factors participating in phenomena of the molecular recognition of anions. Highly complex nanoscopic supramolecules are developed using simple molecule self-assembly mechanisms directed to metallic ions by coordination. These supramolecules may be used as sensors, reactors or multifunctional materials.
