Social cognition

Research line: Impact

Description of impact

This line of research aims to deepen on one of the most characteristic aspects of human beings: the development of social cognition. One of our objectives is to understand how certain language acquisitions base advanced abilities in social cognition, specifically the capacity of attribute mental states to other people, which is called Theory of Mind. We also intend to know the development and the interrelation between these aspects in the developmental disorders. Another of the objectives of this line of research is to deepen on the knowledge of emotional development. Specifically, we are interested in children’s capacity to understand that emotions can be simulated and that this may have consequences on other people’s beliefs about our own emotions The methodology used in this line is experimental (training studies) as well as correlational.
