Description of impact

Study of the mechanical behaviour of materials and structures. The research activity includes the experimental observation and its numerical modelling. The numerical analysis is carried out with finite element method and non-linear models. Also, the researchers work with experimental techniques for the mechanical behaviour characterization of materials and structures. This knowledge allows, for example, the analysis of complex structural applications with advanced materials, the diagnosis of structural integrity, the design and characterisation of energy dissipating devices for seismic protection buildings, or the elaboration of design and optimization numerical tools.
